August 12, 2008: CPT Entertainment has confirmed that two authentic, NASCAR race vehicles will be transported from Hendrick Motorsports in North Carolina and put on display at the upcoming CPT Racing Experience, January 24 and 25 2009, at the Agriplex at Western Fairgrounds in London. On display will be Dale Earnhardt Junior’s number ‘88’ Chevrolet and the number ‘24’, driven by Jeff Gordon.
“It’s exciting to be able to bring these two vehicles to Southwestern Ontario,” said Dave Graham of CPT Entertainment Inc. “Dale Earnhardt Jr. is stock car racing’s most popular driver by a wide margin, and Jeff Gordon has had an incredible career so far. It will be a lot of fun to see those two cars sitting side-by-side at our event.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr., son of the late seven-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Dale Earnhardt, is currently in his first season as teammate to Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Casey Mears at Hendrick Motorsports. In his new number ‘88’, Earnhardt Jr. has thrived, beginning the season with wins in the Bud Shootout and Gatorade Duel races in Daytona, Florida, and winning at Michigan International Speedway on Father’s Day weekend. He has maintained a place in the top five in NASCAR Sprint Cup points all season.
Jeff Gordon is one of NASCAR’s most accomplished competitors. He has earned four NASCAR Sprint Cup championships and 81 series wins. His number ‘24’ Chevrolet has been one of the most recognizable parts of NASCAR racing since he was named “Rookie of the Year” in 1993.
Hendrick Motorsports has confirmed that both cars will feature the new 2009 design. Each will be on hand throughout the two days of the CPT Racing Experience. It will be a unique opportunity for fans to see two examples of NASCAR’s “Car of Tomorrow” up close.
“Since NASCAR introduced the ‘Car of Tomorrow’ full-time just this season, many people have not yet had the chance to have a good look at one,” said Graham. “The ‘COT’ has been such a point of discussion among race fans that it will be great to get right next to them and see the differences from the old cars.”
Additional details on show attractions and displays will be announced as they are confirmed and will be posted at the event’s official website, www.cptrace.com. Exhibitor applications, floor plans, swap meet registration forms and other information pertaining to the event are available online now.
