February 04/08: CPT Entertainment has confirmed that two authentic, NASCAR raced-used vehicles will be transported from Richard Childress Racing in North Carolina and put on display at the upcoming CPT Racing Experience, March 15 and 16, 2008 at the London Convention Centre. On display will be Clint Bowyer’s number ‘07’ Chevrolet and one of the famous black number ‘3’ GM Goodwrench cars, once driven by the late Dale Earnhardt.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer this to people in Southwestern Ontario,” said Kevin Bulmer of CPT Entertainment Inc. “It’s incredible, the excitement that Earnhardt still generates. Thinking about getting close to a little piece of Dale’s spirit and outstanding career is very exciting. He was – and still is – a hero to countless people who love motorsports.”
Earnhardt and Richard Petty are the only drivers ever to win seven championships at NASCAR’s highest level. Known for his relentless approach to competition, mastery of restrictor plate racing and dominance at many tracks, Earnhardt was known to fans as “The Intimidator.” The sight of his black bumper in the rearview mirror was more than enough to make other competitors fearful. They knew that, shortly, they would be receiving a lesson in racing that would likely leave them at least one position further behind by the time it was over.
“Everybody has their own favourite Earnhardt story,” Bulmer said. “I’ll never forget that race at Talladega when he was, I think, eighteenth with just eleven laps to go. Suddenly he came charging through the middle with Kenny Wallace and Joe Nemecheck behind him and he won that race. I watched that with my father-in-law, and we still get chills thinking about that. We’ll never forget it.”
2008 will mark the tenth anniversary of Earnhardt’s only Daytona 500 win, which came in 1998.
Also set for display is Clint Bowyer’s number ‘07’ car. Bowyer, who currently drives for Richard Childress Racing (the same organization Earnhardt drove for throughout the majority of his career), is a rising star. In 2007, Bowyer earned his first berth in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup and later finished third in points. He won his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on September 16, 2007 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Bowyer also earned two poles in 2007.
Both cars will be on hand throughout the two days of the CPT Racing Experience. Fans will have the chance to see the cars up close and take photos.
The CPT Racing Experience is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15 and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 16.
